The convention started off with a bang.
On Thursday the Marlborough MA newspaper had almost a full size picture of me
in color plus a story about the convention. This article and the photos were
published in five different cities because of the publicity over 100 new potential
marble collectors came to the show next week we willl scan and email you the
picture and article which were in the newspaper. A lot of dealers and collectors
showed up to do trading in their rooms on Friday.
On Saturday morning marbles were examined for the auction in the afternoon. We
had a buffet luncheon which Rosalie and I sponsored for 100 collectors, marble
makers and friends. The hotel bent over backwards with one of the finest
meals possible. Saturday afternoon my wife Rosalie was the auctioneer. Some
great marbles were sold and the collectors went home smiling. In the evening
the rooms were open for marble hopping.
Sunday from 9 to 3 p.m. forty tables were set up for collectors to buy marbles.
The room was crowded from the minute we opened the doors until the event was
over. About 400 people attended and a lot of new collectors came because of the
newspaper article.
"The North East Marble Meet will continue its tradition for the year 2006,
with the assistance of Pauline Ciaramitaro, Saugus, MA, who has volunteered to
work with me to continue the tradition going for years to come."
Paul Stankard called to say that the glass world was saying that this was the
best convention ever. We are delighted for us all.
